In the course of our committee's last business meeting, we resolved to continue efforts to have an Older Adults button on OPLIN to link to sites of interest for our patrons. It is our hope that we can highlight sights which are currently difficult to find for folks who are not entirely versed in surfing the web. (I, myself, find it difficult to track down sites at times...I think there is a real need to organize this information for our patrons!) To this end, please forward your recommendations for possible links to Kevin Breen at [email protected] no later than April 23, 1999. He will compile your suggestions for Barb Gillespie to include in our next letter to OPLIN. Hopefully, by giving OPLIN some concrete suggestions, we may see progress in this project.

The committee is also interested in sponsoring a forum on aging in May 2000. This would be similar to the conference CAMLS hosted last year which was a great success. However, if we are to organize an event like this, NOW is the time to plan. Please contact me by the end of APRIL if you are interested in working on this project. It is possible that other CAMLS committees (Technology?) would like to cooperate on it. At this time, we feel that it would be a valuable conference, but if we don't have enough volunteers, we will not be able to work on it.
