Is a diversity initiative thriving in your library? You are invited to a CAMLS workshop that will bring new energy to your diversity efforts. Ohio Library Council Diversity Committee Chairperson Carol Verny will present Dimensions of Diversity. Carolís program will focus on the many elements of diversity which include: age, disabilities, gender, religion, sexual orientation, social class, and ethnicity. She will also focus on specific ideas one can internalize to avoid predetermined judgments and stereotypes.
In the afternoon, Cuyahoga County Public Library Diversity Committee members Judith Cramer and Jim McPeak will review their libraryís in-house diversity awareness program called MOSAIC. This successful program has been specially designed by the staff at CCPL to serve as an orientation instrument for all new employees. Their presentation will focus on the process of developing such an instrument and attendees will learn specific strategies to develop their own diversity awareness program.
Follow Up:
There will be a brown bag luncheon in late October of 2022 for participants To review their progress and challenges in developing their libraryís diversity initiatives.
