The Fourth Annual Back to the Book Conference returns with a focus on all things books. The morning keynote will celebrate a truly unique reading club, The Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle . The CLSC is the oldest continuous book club in America and has remained a leader in adult education. Each season the authors of the year's CLSC book selections address the weekly CLSC Roundtable/Lectures in the Hall of Philosophy. The CLSC has brought many Pulitzer Prize and National Book Club award winners to Chautauqua. Its original goal of lifelong learning is still mission of this famous and longstanding book club. Hear the rich history of this special organization from CLSCís own Kathleen Crocker.

Readerís Advisory (RA) is a challenge to many, and Back to the Book IV will also feature Joyce G. Saricks, author of Reader's Advisory Service in the Public Library. Gain confidence and a new approach from an expert in RA. There will be an overview of the nuts and bolts of good RA, a look at some specific genres, but the main focus will be on the appeal of genres, and groups of genres that share similar appeals. Through interactive exercises, you will discover how to talk across genres, a key element that your patrons and customers will appreciate.
