PLUS THE STORIES BEHIND THE STORIES IN DON GALLO'S ANTHOLOGIES; Don Gallo, Ohio author and editor, and considered an authority on teen literature, has published several recent short story anthologies including Destination Unexpected: Short Stories; No Easy Answers: Short Stories About Teens Making Tough Choices; Join In: Multiethnic Short Stories; and Sixteen, which is considered by the American Library Association as one of the one hundred "Best of the Best Books" for Young Adults published during the last four decades of the twentieth century. Educator and reviewer Chris Crowe calls Gallo "the godfather of young adult short stories." He is also one of the creators of the web site "Authors 4 Teens." At this workshop, he will share some of the best YA books published during 2022 and other recent titles, comments about characteristics present in good books for teens, how to attract teen readers, and book and web resources important to those working with teens. As an added bonus, he will share his personal information on how he has edited a number of short story anthologies for teens, what he looks for when collecting these stories, and how he puts such books together.

This workshop is co-sponsored by NOLA and CAMLS
