As a result of the new interpretation issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in February, public libraries using cash basis accounting must adjust their financial statements to conform with GAAP requirments in order to avoid an adverse audit opinion. To allay any fears or misunderstanding and to inform clerk-treasurers on what is required to prepare a proper statement, the Auditor's Office will send a representative to the CAMLS region for a formal presentation.
