Principal duties: Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the computer lab including proactive maintenance procedures; primary maintenance of all library owned computers; and providing assistance to the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences Systems Support staff operations. Schedule, hire, and train monitors and student assistants; perform troubleshooting and maintenance on computers; work with faculty around installation and testing of software in the lab; provide lab coverage as needed in absence of student assistants; maintain service records for computers in lab and library; provide orientation and training for all media technology and presentation equipment for faculty and staff; schedule and coordinate basic instruction to faculty, staff and students for computer lab software; work with other System Support staff on installation and maintenance of computers within MSASS; work with CWRUnet Services and Digital Media Services staff concerning library and lab network issues; coordinate overall day-to-day operations of the MSASS Systems Support Help Desk; coordinate lab and equipment scheduling. Other related duties.
Qualifications/Requirements: Requires AA in computing or related field; prefer BA/BS in computing technology or related field. Requires two years experience in systems support and experience with computer software packages including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite; Windows operating systems, WWW, Novell and other networking systems and protocols; computer lab operations, user support. Must have knowledge of networking protocols and HTML; knowledge of Windows and a variety of software applications; ability to install and learn new applications; ability to troubleshoot and identify hardware and software issues and repair same. Should have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Position may require some evening and weekend hours and some heavy lifting.
