| Principal Duties: | Medina County District Library is looking for two friendly and caring individuals who enjoy working with people of all ages, especially older adults and individuals who are disabled. These librarians will direct our library services for our outreach patrons. One position will provide library services, such as programming, reference and reader''s advisory to patrons who are living in skilled care and assisted living facilities, hospitals, and jails. Delivers materials and conducts programs at facilities. Maintains relationships with the administration and staff at the various facilities. Maintains collections of library materials in various outreach locations. Assists with the development and maintenance of the Outreach Services Department collection. One position will provide reference and reader''s advisory to patrons who are homebound. Responsible for administering the Talking Book program and coordinating the Volunteer Bookmate program by recruiting, training and scheduling volunteers to deliver the pre-selected library materials to outreach patrons. | Qualifications/ Requirements: |
Candidates must possess an ALA accredited Master''s Degree in Library Science; knowledge of a wide range of books and authors; knowledge and skills in adult services and programming, electronic information resources, and reader''s advisory; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; initiative to act in a self-directed manner; ability to prepare accurate and concise reports; ability to establish rapport with outreach patrons and their caregivers; valid Ohio driver''s license in good standing; ability to lift and transfer a minimum of twenty pounds; and ability to work as a team member. Programming experience and outreach experience preferred. An applicant who does not possess a MLS will be considered if within six hours and six months of graduation. Persons interviewed and hired under these conditions will be hired as a Librarian, Grade 24, on the Professional/Administrative Scale. |
