Principal Duties: The circulation assistant is a member of the Access Services Group. This person is responsible for supervising circulation functions. Performs daily circulation operations from both the general collection and reserve collection. Answers phone and directs incoming calls. Assists with adding reserve material. Assists in maintenance of copy machines. Operates fax machine for faculty, staff and students. Supervises student assistants. Opens and closes the library as needed. Performs other duties as assigned and required.
High school diploma or GED required. B.A. or B.S. degree and knowledge of automated circulation desirable. Library experience, effective oral and written communication skills, and clerical and supervisory experience necessary. This position needs a service oriented personality with the ability to work with a variety of people. Attention to detail, and the ability to operate a computer required. Flexibility to work a varied schedule, as needed. Ability to motivate others. Integrity, dependability, punctuality, and neatness are required. Ability to lift and carry 25 - 30 pounds and to shelve material 4 - 6 feet high is part of this position.
