Principal Duties:	Lorain Public Library is undertaking a new initiative to create an award winning, nationlly recognized program of services to children and youth. The Library is seeking a dynamic, creative and energetic librarian who can lead this initiative. Serves as liaison to the communities served by the Library, fosters partnerships between the Library and the schools and other agencies that serve youth in the Library''s service district; develops joint programming between Lorain Public Library System and other agencies, promotes reading and family literacy awareness throughout the community; oversees in-house children''s services training for the Library System. Supervises seven staff in the Children''s Department of the Main Library and provides direct reference, reader''s advisory and computer users assistance to the public. Applicants are expected to work evenings and weekends. The Lorain Public Library System has a Main Library, five branches, and a bookmobile, which serves a diverse population of over 125,000.
Qualifications/ Requirements:	MLS from ALA-accredited Library School required. At least three (3) years progessively responsible public library experience including providing programs, reference and reader''s advisory service directly to the public required. Competency in the use of a variety of online catalogs, the Internet,online databases, e-mail, and office software required; storytelling and public speaking experience required. Excellent customer relations skills, supervisory skills, ability to integrate technology into opertions, thorough knowledge of children''s literature, good organizational and people skills to lead and communicate effectively in a team environment required.
