Principal Duties: Reporting to the Deputy Director and Associate Director for Collections and Personnel, the Coordinator of Information Services will provide leadership and expertise in library-wide educational initiatives, particularly in the area of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) collection management, numeric and spatial data services and information literacy instruction. This individual is expected to establish and maintain a close working partnership with teaching faculty and community leaders in order to: Identify emerging service and instructional needs; aggressively market library services and resources; and undertake assessments of service quality.

Requirements:
Minimum five years relevant post M.L.S. experience in a reference or public services position in an academic library, or comparable experience in an academic unit of a university, is required. Knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) software, especially products developed by ESRI and/or other statistics software highly desirable. Knowledge of spatial data, databases, data structures and metadata standards highly desirable. Knowledge of instructional uses of data highly desirable. Teaching experience or coursework dealing with classroom instructional techniques and theories. Minimum two years experience in delivering consultation services and using networked resources is required. Willingness, motivation and initiative required in developing new and unique programs. Experience in designing and maintaining web pages is required. Experience with automated library systems in an academic library is preferred. Excellent public service and interpersonal skills. Excellent ability to communicate in writing and speaking (both one-on-one and to groups). Ability to exercise independent judgment and skill in managing ambiguous situations and diverse projects. Experience in a range of methods for library instruction with evidence of significant participation in instructional programs and successful teaching experience. Demonstrated organizational and supervisory skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Expertise in GIS software. Expertise to manage a group of networked high-end workstations for use with complex GIS software. Good technical knowledge of Windows and Macintosh operating environments. Knowledge of office productivity software packages required (e.g. Microsoft, Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc). Ability to use technology to perform related planning and administrative tasks. Experience with library systems and services such as online public access catalogs and online indexes and databases. ALA -accredited Masters of Library Science is required. Advanced degree in a subject related area is preferred.
