Principal Duties: | Librarian I, Lillian J. and Milford F. Harris Library (Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences) Working under the supervision of the Director this Librarian is primarily responsible for providing weekend and evening reference services, bibliographic instruction as needed and, general supervision of evening and weekend student assistants. The Librarian will work as a team member, in a graduate school environment, with library staff to maintain high standards of service delivery. |
Qualifications/ Requirements: |
1- 2 years experience post-MLS. Some experience in an academic library setting preferred. Ability to work with a diverse academic community. Demonstrated ability to cope with multiple demands in a team environment. Good written and verbal communication skills. Initiative, flexibility and willingness to work in a rapidly changing environment. Attention to detail and accuracy in work is necessary. Knowledge of file design, structure of various information retrieval systems. Demonstrated familiarity with information technologies. Demonstrated experience with personal computers and Microsoft Office, library systems such as OCLC, and automated catalogs, etc. Ability to keep current with changing library and information technologies. Willingness to be involved in web development. Some understanding of web markup languages, scripting (Pert, CGI, etc) or willingness to learn. Expertise in using traditional library and Internet resources and tools. Familiarity with web based reference services and instruction. ALA accredited masters in Library Sciences. Coursework around information resources in the Social Sciences / Non-profit area preferred. |
