Principal Duties: Oversee collection development, provide library related instruction, and serve as liaison to the following academic departments: geology, computer science, mechanical engineering and electrical and computer engineering. Serve as liaison between the Science and Technology Library and the University Librariesí systems department. Provide reference service at the Science and Technology Library, including one evening per week. Virtual reference during the evening hours is optional. The successful candidate will be required to meet the University of Akron Librariesí criteria for promotion and tenure which include conducting research and teaching, participation on library and university committees, as well as professional organizations. Funding to attend professional meetings is available.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications MLS from an ALA accredited school; educational background in the natural or applied sciences or an engineering discipline, or professional experience in an academic library working with science or engineering disciplines; sound knowledge of IT protocols/principles in a complex networking environment; expertise in electronic access to data and web-based services; excellent oral and written communications skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; a strong service ethic. Preferred Qualifications Broad knowledge of the science and engineering disciplines; knowledge of the literature of science and engineering including patents, technical reports and conference proceedings; knowledge of databases in science, allied health and engineering; experience creating and maintaining Web pages. A graduate degree in science or engineering is highly desirable.
