Principal Duties: | Under minimal supervision, manages all Division operations including: interviewing, scheduling, training, motivating, and evaluating Science and Technology staff; developing and maintaining a well-balanced system-wide collection of books and other materials; maintaining a high level of customer service in the Division; keeping abreast of current trends and development in the S&T subject areas; coordinating relevant activities with other Division Branches, and Mobile Services; overseeing the planning and implementation of programs and services; marketing the materials and services of the Division; performing a full range of collection development duties; providing reader''s advisory and reference service to customers; and performing other tasks as assigned. |
Qualifications/ Requirements: |
Proven aptitude in professional library science, preferably in a public library setting, including a comprehensive knowledge of reference sources, reader interest levels, books and authors in S&T subject areas; demonstrated supervisory and management skills; ability to assess customer interests and needs and develop services and programs accordingly; excellent customer service skills; including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to think and work independently; ability to speak and write effectively; and sound professional judgment. A Master of Library and Information Science degree issued by an ALA-accredited school of Library and Information Science and extensive professional library experience are required. |
