|Full-time (37.5 hours) including evenings and weekends
|Grade 7, $1,424.54 biweekly
|Performs a variety of professional duties as related to the development and provision of Library srvices to young adults. Advises and provides support to Young Adult librarians system-wide, including, but not limited to: Young Adult collection development; developing Young Adult programs and services; planning and implementing quarterly Youth Services meetings for system Librarians; providing individual orientation and training to newly hired Young Adult Librarians; planning and designing Young Adult promotional displays; maintaining appropriate contact with community organizations and schools; representing the Library at professional organizations; providing specialized book lists and reader''s advisory; planning tours and instruction for visitor groups; giving book talks; providing public service and programs; substituting for Young Adult and Children''s programming where needed; supervising Youth Services Office in the absense of the Coordinator; maintaining awareness of developments in the field of Young Adult Librarianship; pariticpating in in-service training, attending seminars and workshops as assigned; performing other duties as assigned.
|Demonstrated comprehensive and broad knowledge of the principles and practices of library science as they apply to Young Adult work; working knowledge of publishers and their practices relating to the Young Adult materials; demonstrated abilities in the following areas; developing and maintaining effective working relationships with General Managers, Coordinators, Managers, Librarians, groups and professionals within the community; developing and implementing Young Adult programs and services; assessing community needs as related to youth services; developing programs and services; thinking and working independently; speaking and writing effectively; and using sound professional judgment and initiative. Requirements include: a Master of Library Science degree issued by an ALA accredited school of library and information science; extensive experience in the field of Young Adult work preferred; and the ability to travel between Main and Branch Libraries and throughout the community and state.
