Management TrainingParticipants in the Issues Track of CAMLS Management Training series are in the midst of solving their real-life management dilemmas. Twenty-one managers from public, academic and school libraries met in April for Week One of the two-week training. During the five days, they framed a strategic dilemma statement about a problem they currently face. When they meet again on October 28 for the second session, they will share the strategies that they have designed to resolve their dilemmas. The twenty-one participants in this new program come from public, academic, school and state libraries.
The Issues Track will kick off its nine-month series with a dinner on September 20. Jon Shannon and Becky Schreiber, well known to Ohio librarians for their work with Library Leadership Ohio (2000), will lead participants through the steps of self-discovery and management styles. As with LLOhio, the tool they will use to take new managers down this path is the Enneagram, a personality indicator that describes nine distinct types of emotional and mental concerns that drive behavior.
