Whereas: The Cleveland Area Metropolitan Library System is coordinating a region-wide program among area libraries whereby communities throughout Northeast Ohio will read and discuss Harper Lee?s literary classic, To Kill a Mockingbird; and

Whereas: January is the kickoff month for the North Coast Neighbors Share a Book program which culminates with National Library Week in April 2022; and

Whereas: The purpose of this program is to stimulate critical thinking and lively discussions among our citizenry in various forums like coffeehouses, libraries, bookstores and the program?s Web site; and

Whereas: The Pulitzer Prize-winning book is filled with important themes like civil rights, social justice and legal ethics, and welcomes broad participation; and

Whereas: The North Coast Neighbors Share a Book program encourages community involvement by sponsoring programming that enhances learning and promotes diversity; and

Whereas: The Cleveland Area Metropolitan Library System is a 74-member library cooperative assisting member libraries to better meet the needs of their customers by creating opportunities to accomplish services and programs beyond individual capabilities and resources;
