| Principal Duties: |
The Director of the Library operates with a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for planning and implementing state of the art library and information services to support the School''s academic and research programs. The Director also represents the Library and the School to the University and professional community regarding library and information services. Under the general direction of the Dean, the Director has responsibility for the administration and management of the Harris Library and providing leadership around library services, ensuring electronic and traditional information technologies are up to date and library support of the educational program is maintained. The Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining faculty and university liaison around library issues; staff planning and development; establishing and maintaining good relations with students, faculty and alumni and; contact with other libraries, agencies and organizations around library services and programs. The Director also represents the Library and MSASS at local, regional and national meetings. Good oral and written communication, problem solving, decision making, management, and independent judgment skills, and knowledge of current library practices, trends, and technology are essential. MLS from accredited library school; Masters in Social Work desirable. |
