Principal Duties: •Provides reference services to students, faculty, and staff using electronic, print, and Internet resources. •Assists students in using research tools, locating on-site materials, and online information sources. •Teaches credit bearing information literacy courses. •Collaborates with faculty on all library instruction activities including scheduling and delivering subject-specific library instruction and maintains up-to-date and easily accessible schedule of classroom visits and faculty/librarian consultations. •Works with faculty to integrate information literacy across all disciplines. •Develops and prepares teaching aids and pathfinders including those based on new applications of technology. •Monitors materials produced in-house for consistency, attractiveness, and informational quality. •Contributes to collection management and development activities including making sound decisions on annual periodical subscriptions and book/audio/video purchases. •Provides 24/7 virtual reference services and keeps up-to-date on training as it occurs. •Establishes correct cataloging authority records for names, series, subject, uniform titles, etc. •Checks LC subject heading changes as they occur and updates local Sagebrush Spectrum system on a regular basis. •Supervises the processing of library resource materials efficiently. •Supervises student assistants and/or support staff. •Works on system wide and campus initiatives in academic library services.
Qualifications/
Requirements:
•ALA accredited MLS degree •Experience in an academic library preferred •Proficiency with electronic, print, and Internet resources •Demonstrated evidence of excellent organizational, interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills •Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues in a team work setting •Ability to work with a diverse student population •Ability to handle and coordinate multiple assignments in a fast paced environment •Strong aptitude and demonstrated working knowledge of computers and their application in research •Teaching experience or aptitude preferred •Knowledge of LC classification, LCSH, and MARC records
